The InnoSTARS Competition is a platform that connects U.S.-based innovators and opportunities in the U.S. and China. By participating in InnoSTARS pitch competition, US entrepreneurs can gain access to high-caliber strategic partners, investors and valuable China-read coaching from mentors, as well as connections with other kindred spirits in the InnoSTARS community. This pitch event is free to attend for qualified companies and you will have the chance to showcase your innovative technology as well as winning a cash prize, complimentary matchmaking opportunities, evaluation reports and media coverage.

How it works


Register an account via https://innostars.org Complete and submit your application before the deadline. Incomplete application will NOT be reviewed.

Industry experts and investors will review and evaluate the online applications.
Applicants will receive their online scores and comments once the results are submitted by the judges.

Qualified applicants will be invited to pitch at an online or onsite roadshows.

Pitch format: Presentation (10 minutes) + Q&A (5 minutes)


Winners will be announced upon the completion of all pitch sessions in a certain industry.  Winners will enjoy all the benefits listed below, as well as the potential roadshow opportunities in China.

Application Criteria
  • Application must feature a technology that falls under one or more of the focus industries and is not controlled under U.S. Export Control laws.
  • Products, technologies, patents, and control of IP or exclusive licensing rights must be owned by the Applicant, or his/her company, and must not have any potential or outstanding IP ownership disputes.
  • The Applicant should have an interest to seek Chinese investment and/or explore the Chinese market.
  • The Applicant is committed to continuing the development of products and technologies with the intent to further commercialize these assets in the foreseeable future.
  • Revenue generation and profitability are preferred but not required.
  • The Applicant must be a representative of a registered U.S. company with innovative technologies or products that have been or can be commercialized.

  • A 15-minute roadshow presentation to investors and entrepreneurs
  • Media coverage and promotion on popular social platforms in the U.S. and China 
  • 60-minute online pre-pitch workshop before the roadshow, including how to enhance your pitch and ensure your message is delivered to the investors in an efficient way
  • Access to periodic online seminars with update information including Intellectual Property and Patent Protection in China
For roadshow winners:
  • Up to $3000 cash prize
  • A roadshow video of participants’ companies to be promoted on reliable and influential innovation platforms in China
  • An assessment of participants’ project potential for development in the Chinese market prepared by industry experts and investors.
  • Up to three one-on-one B2B matchmaking online meetings with high-potential investors or partners; Referrals to five potential investors or strategic partners
  • Access to periodic online seminars with update information including but not limited to: Intellectual Property; Patent Protection; Market-oriented preferential policies; Industry standardization and cooperation fund application in regions and cities in China

Each applicant can only represent one company.

a) All stages of the competition may be open to the public at large. Any and all of these stages may be broadcast to interested persons through media, which may include radio, television and the Internet. The Competition Materials should be considered information that could possibly enter the public realm, and Applicants should not assume any right of confidentiality in any data or information discussed, divulged, or presented in these Stages.

b) Due to the nature of the competition, the Hosts will not be able to ask judges, staff, or the audience to agree to or sign Non Disclosure Statements. The Hosts will, however, make every effort to limit distribution of Competition Materials presented at the competition. The Hosts cannot guarantee that other individuals will not obtain access to electronic or hard copies of the Competition Materials. All presentations are open to the general public, and some presentations may be videotaped. Attendance by media personnel is expected.

c) The Hosts or its affiliates may pass on any Competition Materials to their venture capital and other commercial partners on a non-confidential basis.

No, the prizes are equity-free cash.

No, you don’t need to be registered in China to compete.

Yes, qualified non-winner companies can join the roadshow trip to China without sponsorship.

Foreign citizens generally need a visa to visit China’s mainland.

U.S. citizens must obtain a visa before arrival in China. You are not eligible for a landing visa.

You will receive a confirmation email once your application is approved.

Once you receive a notification email from us, you will be assigned projects according to the focus industries of your choice.
